Micro-Immunotherapy
A gentle approach to regulating
the immune system
What Is Micro-Immunotherapy (MIT)?
Micro-immunotherapy is a therapeutic approach designed to support and regulate the immune system using very low doses of immune signalling molecules. It is particularly suited to individuals with complex, chronic, or highly reactive conditions where the immune system is either overactive, underactive, or dysregulated.
At The Autoimmune Clinic, micro-immunotherapy can be considered as part of a broader, personalised plan to help restore balance to the immune system in a controlled and well-tolerated way.

Micro-immunotherapy uses low and ultra-low doses of substances that naturally occur in the body, including:
-
Cytokines (immune signalling molecules)
-
Growth factors
-
Nucleic acids (DNA/RNA fragments)
These are delivered in a structured sequence, often referred to as a “programme”, designed to gently guide the immune system rather than suppress or overstimulate it.
The aim is not to override the immune system, but to provide it with the information it needs to function more appropriately.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

The immune system communicates through chemical messengers, particularly cytokines. In many chronic conditions, this communication becomes disrupted.

Micro-immunotherapy works by:

-
Supporting immune signalling pathways
-
Helping rebalance pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses
-
Encouraging appropriate immune activation where needed
-
Calming excessive or inappropriate immune reactions
Because the doses used are very low, this approach is generally well tolerated, even in individuals who are sensitive to supplements or medications.

WHY CONSIDER MICRO-IMMUNOTHERAPY?
This approach may be helpful when:
-
The immune system appears dysregulated rather than simply “weak” or “overactive”
-
There is a history of chronic infections or immune burden
-
The individual reacts easily to supplements or medications
-
Conventional or standard functional approaches have not been well tolerated
It can be used alongside other interventions, including nutritional therapy, lifestyle changes, and targeted supplementation.
Micro-Immunotherapy in Complex Chronic Illness
Micro-immunotherapy may be considered in a range of chronic immune-related conditions where the immune system appears dysregulated, overreactive, chronically activated, or exhausted. This can include autoimmune disease, MCAS, vector-borne illness, Long COVID, and post-viral syndromes.

In autoimmune conditions, the aim is not to suppress the immune system, but to help support more appropriate immune regulation and reduce excessive inflammatory signalling over time. In MCAS and highly reactive individuals, micro-immunotherapy may help support immune tolerance and calm underlying immune overactivation in a gradual and better tolerated way.

In chronic infections and vector-borne illness, it may help support immune coordination and resilience without forcing aggressive immune responses, which can be particularly helpful in individuals who struggle to tolerate stronger antimicrobial protocols. Similarly, following viral infections such as COVID-19, this approach may help support immune recovery, reduce persistent inflammation, and improve overall immune balance where the system has not fully returned to baseline.

Is Micro-Immunotherapy right for you?
This approach may be particularly suitable if you:

-
Have a complex or chronic immune-related condition
-
Experience high sensitivity to supplements or medications
-
Suspect underlying immune dysregulation
-
Have not responded well to conventional or standard approaches
TESTING

A panel we can run to assess immune function in more depth is the Immune Status panel offered by Lab4more. This test provides a broader overview of immune activity and regulation by looking at different immune cell populations and inflammatory markers.
It includes analysis of white blood cell subsets such as T cells, B cells, NK cells and other lymphocyte populations, helping us understand how the immune system is functioning and responding.
The panel can also provide insight into patterns of immune activation, suppression, chronic inflammation, or immune exhaustion, which can be particularly relevant in complex chronic illness, post-viral syndromes, chronic infections, autoimmune disease, MCAS, or CIRS-type presentations.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Micro-immunotherapy is taken orally, most often as small capsules or pellets placed under the tongue in a specific, structured sequence. It is introduced gradually to allow the body to adapt, particularly in individuals with sensitive or highly reactive systems.
Responses can vary depending on the underlying state of the immune system, which is why close monitoring is important throughout.

In practice, it is incorporated into a broader, personalised treatment plan, alongside nutrition, lifestyle, and other supportive interventions.

Muriel has undertaken training in micro-immunotherapy, allowing this approach to be assessed and integrated safely and appropriately within complex cases. This allows us to determine whether it is suitable for your case and how it can be incorporated into your wider, personalised plan.
